This class guides you from the design & layout of the provided alpaca fiber, through the "Roll Felting" process, to the final finishing stages.

Skirting Alpaca Fiber, from Shearing to the Mill or Show

Save on processing cost with efficient skirting

Billie Rogers

Learn the ins & outs of skirting alpaca fleeces. From how to make skirting easier by preparing your fleece at shearing, to measuring staple length and reducing loss by removing dirt & vegetation. We finish up by covering the final stages, including tumbling and washing, so you can make your fleece ready for the show, mill or home processing. Follow this class with our Intro to Fiber Processing class and save $15.

Wet Felting Hats from Alpaca Fiber

Join us for a day of crafts and fun!

We will be using a wet felting technique to create unique felted hats. Choose from a wide range of alpaca dyed and natural colors. This technique allows you creative design options to shape a hat with a simple rolled brim, a narrow or wide brim. We will discuss how to further embellish your hat with stitch or beading, and hat bands.

Making a Stomp Rug

Realize the potential for course alpaca fibers.

Learn to make your own beautiful Stomp Rug from durable alpaca fiber! This class utilizes the course alpaca fiber that is difficult to capitalize on. I will guide you from the design & layout of the provided alpaca fiber, through the unique "Rug Stomp" felting process, to the final finishing stages. Be prepared for a very vigorous workout and a lot of fun.

Intro to Alpaca Fiber Processing

Add value to your fiber and revenue to your ranch.

This will be a hands-on course, teaching students how to process raw washed alpaca fiber into useable batts and rovings. Every step of the processing cycle adds value to your alpaca fleece and revenue to your ranch. Students should bring your washed fleeces OR you may process washed fleeces for our Hats for Cancer project.

Wet Felting Alpaca Fiber into Fabric

Make anything from your felted sheets of alpaca!

This class teaches you the basics of wet felting with alpaca. We will be using wet felting techniques to create sheets of alpaca felt that can be used to make anything from hats to vests. Choose from a wide range of alpaca colors or bring your own processed fiber from your herd.

Making Crocheted Baskets from Alpaca and other fibers

Learn to crochet a bowl with 100% alpaca fiber.

Karen Pendergrast

No crochet knowledge necessary, Karen will teach you how. Use your bowl as an accent, for a candy dish or whatever you choose. The pattern is easily adjustable for you to make another bowl of any size.
